Ask the Father
This is a site dedicated to explore and understand the meaning behind various ancient traditions from the orthodox Christian heritage.

Ask the Father has three meanings or connotations:
1. To reflect that the Christian life is totally dependent on God. Even to meaningfully live this life that God gave us, we will need to always pray and rely on God to give us the strength and grace to live life in such a manner that is pleasing to HIm. It is for this that God gives us His Holy Spirit to reside within us, to guide us into all truth. All we need is to ask God for His Spirit and grace. "Truly, truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you." (John 16:23)
2. To reflect the basic premise of the orthodox Christian life - that we do not do anything without the blessing of our spiritual fathers - be it a bishop or a priest. For everything, we ask the spiritual father who is appointed by the Church to shepherd us.
3. Since I write about questions that people in my parish ask me or generally want to know about the orthodox faith, 'Ask the father' is a fitting call sign for a priest who answers queries. So please do write and ask the father.
